At the end of the day, they are still a mobile and relatively tough platform that costs 45 points if you take away the guns. They are also great with their forward deploying shenanigans, putting pressure on opponents from the very get-go. and with how incredibly cheap these things are, they often make back their points almost in one go. If I've gotten any value out of them as a screen or pre-game blocking unit the Runners almost always draw a disporportionate reponse to the threat they actually provide.Ĭhances are you roll 1.5 sixes either to hit or to wound with. My wife plays Sisters of Battle and my best friend is a Tau player and this 105pt unit is able to easily trade for Retributors or Pathfinders caught out trying to get a LOS almost every game. *Special shoutout to Shroud Runners as a mid game trading unit. I have been consistantly able with two squads of rangers and one of shroud runners to force my opponants into very small board positions early in the game and have an annoying to shift low point unti holding sites they want to be on top of.įor setting up flanks from the webway with wraiths or staging a Wave Serpent loaded with nasty things these two units have been all stars and I would rarely want to leave home without them. They are incredible mid and backfiled objective holders and screens, but their pre and early game impact is incredibly outsized because of their deployment and movement. While netiher is core to my strategy they are both durable far beyond their points cost with the Craftworld psudo-armor of contempt from playing Iyanden. As an Iyanden player, Rangers and Shroud runners have been my biggest suprise.
